Contributions

Smart Agriculture asks how Africa feeds itself on its own terms — using tools it owns, data it generates, and knowledge it already holds.

Every contribution to Smart Agriculture is reviewed, licensed and archived so it remains usable for decades. We accept articles, datasets, case notes and peer reviews.

Ways to contribute

Four kinds of work we publish.

Submissions are filed under the field\u2019s eight research themes, reviewed by the editorial team, and archived with a permanent licence block.

Article

Research articles

Original analysis, field reports and literature reviews. Peer-reviewed before publication.

Dataset

Datasets

Structured, documented data with clear provenance and an open licence where possible.

Case note

Case notes

Short, practical write-ups from the field. Useful for practitioners, not just academics.

Review

Peer review

Review a submission in your area of expertise. Reviews are credited and archived.

How review works

Read, edit, publish \u2014 with the author.

Submissions are checked for scope, sources and clarity. If accepted, we work with you on edits, then publish with a permanent licence block. Rejected submissions get written feedback so the work can be improved and resubmitted.

Licensing and reuse

Built to be reused.

Published contributions carry a licence that allows reuse with attribution. Authors keep moral rights. Commercial reuse terms are stated on each article footer.
